Freer Rattlesnake Roundup 2013

This past weekend was the annual Rattlesnake Roundup in Freer, TX. I haven't been since high school so I vaguely remember anything about it. I remember it was fun and I saw Diamond Rio there.....that makes me sound old! haha!

We invited some friends and all loaded up...6 of us... in my car and made the hour and 15 min drive over. It was fun! We were there before we knew it. With everyone of us having our own choice in what song we should play next and all having conversations of our own or interrupting other ones. It was a blast! Us girls drank on the way there and we were loving every minute of that coconut rum!

As soon as we got there and out of the car, sandblasted! What in the world? Who brought all the sand with them? I really really didn't remember Freer being so sandy. The wind was cranking and we were all covered in sand literally within minutes of stepping out of the car. I was SO happy that I wore boots!

We shopped around and the poor guys had to run into "town" Freer's "town"....to get money out. Would you believe that their atms, that sit in a truck - were out of service? Seems they are dial up and weren't picking up a signal. haha!!! This was so funny to us. We really didn't think of these things before we left Corpus. We found a couple cute things and ran into some more people we knew. We briefly browsed at the rattlesnakes, and they had huge snakes! Boa's? I have no idea, I don't know anything about snakes and I don't want to! Many people were pausing to get their picture with these ginormous snakes.

Before we knew it the concert started. We didn't even make our way to the carnival! We completely forgot. That would've been fun. We listened to the Cody Johnson Band. They were good. Then came Pat Green - he did good too! Every time we had to go to the restroom the lines were ridiculously long! That was a pain, but everything else was great and went great!!

Until the rain.....it started raining and they announced that they would wait at least 30 minutes to see if the concert will go on. The lightening was pretty bad and it was raining pretty good. We then decided that we would miss who we all wanted to see - Randy Rogers Band and head home. There was no guarantee that he would even be playing if the weather didn't get better. We all got rained on and booked it to the car.

We actually got home I think a little before midnight?! We all had a blast and we rarely do things like this! I am so glad that we decided to make this trip! We had so much fun!! I missed my baby boy, but we had fun.

By the time we even got home it was thundering so bad and raining. Bridger woke up and hung out with us all until they all left. Then he was a lucky little boy and got to sleep in mommy and daddys bed.

Pure Sweetness

This is the sweetness - pure sweetness. You can clearly see the joy in his face. He loves his momma and I love him SO much.

Build-a-bear gets us.....

Bridger is such a lover for blankets and stuff animals. He gets that from his mommy. He has a lot of stuffed animals and would bring a different one to daycare for awhile before switching it out for another one. I don't think that he "played" with them, but would lay down with them for naps.

He hasn't really been taking any with him lately. So I was surprised that when we walked by build-a-bear and he wanted to go in....we used to go in all the time and he has gotten a few from there before but it has been a long time.

We walked in and he immediately saw one he wanted....but they were all out. Daddy found him one and Bridger loved it. How could we say no. He has been carrying it around with him.

Beach Day!

Sunday we loaded up and decided to head to the beach. Saturday was such a gorgeous day, that I figured Sunday would be even better. It was so pretty! We headed out and Malori & Colby and the boys met us out there. We found a nice spot and just let the boys run. Karsen slept in the truck for awhile and when he woke up he hung out for awhile before falling asleep for the rest of the time in his stroller. He is such a good baby!

Bridger and Kyler played in the water for the longest time! They were both so happy and content. They are natural water babies. Bridger was in the water for hours. Ryans mom and aunt and some others came out too! They brought food and shade! Ha! Much more prepared then we ever are. It was seriously the nicest day. We got some sun, the boys wore themselves out and the guys just hung. I love beach days. We spent the entire day out there and Bridger talks about it for days.

The beach is a nice change from just going out in the boat. Although I love going to our "white sands" area.... We have so many months of warm nice weather......and plenty of ways to spend it!!

Boat Party

Our friends started having a boat party before the start of the season a couple or so years ago. I'm guessing it is for good luck? I have no idea. Before the "official Launch" I guess. This year the boat was in the boat slip at the marina in Port A. Everyone else paid for a party bus so that they didn't have to drive back and forth. Great idea!!

We have our trip coming up and some other things, that we didn't really want to ask our mom's to babysit Bridger. We don't have a list of babysitters either. Ryan went offshore that day and when he got back we decided we would head out and  just stop for a short while to visit, etc. We took Bridger with us. We got out there at dark and Bridger was so shy. It cracks me up how shy he is when he walks into a crowd. It takes him so long to warm up. It didn't take long for him to warm up and start running all around the grassy area. It was kind of chilly. We hung out for awhile and Ryan started walking down on the dock. I was going down there to talk to someone, so I ran to the car to get Bridger's life jacket.

As soon as I put it on him, I turned to talk. I heard a splash. Yep. My baby fell in the water!! My heart just sank. I saw Ryan jump down real quick to try to grab him, so I froze. In my mind it took 10 minutes! The music stopped, everyone stopped talking....and it took forever to get my baby out of the water. I just remember 1 image and that was of him face down in the water. The life jacket made him lay face first into the water, I think its a technique to learn to roll over. He got it at one point, and turned back around and then Ryan was able to spin him around again so his face was no longer in the water. At this point I felt like it was taking forever and yelled, get him! ha, like he wasn't trying. My poor hubby, I was just so freaked out. He repositioned himself and was able to grab him with one arm and got him out onto the dock. Fully dressed. Cold outside. My poor baby was soaked. He didn't cry or make one peep. I grabbed his little hand and walked immediately to my car. I stripped him down and dried him off. I had extra shirts and jackets, but no pants.

After getting his clothes on, or the shirt and jacket I mean - he just wanted to be held by his daddy. He was wrapped in his blankie and just sat with his head on his daddy's shoulder. We didn't stay but 10-15 more mins before we headed home. It was already around 10pm. I put Bridger in his car seat and he said - "Mommy I in the water with the fish!!!" lol. I love my sweet boy. We asked him numerous times if he was scared and he said yes. However- the next day at the pier he was back to leaning over and jumping from boat to dock. ohhh boy. This little boy. He is all boy!

He is my little trooper. It scared me so bad though. My heart little felt like it sank and stopped. I was shaking so bad. I hate that feeling. I am so happy that he is ok and that we always put his life jacket on when we are around water. Always. We have been talking seriously about swim lessons as well. He is entirely too comfortable around water. Swim lessons sound perfect.

Beach run

Yesterday after work, I picked up Bridger and met Ryan at the house. He went to subway, got us dinner and we headed to pick up his truck at the shop. We loaded up and started our drive out to the beach. He wanted to see if he could see some oil rigs out in the gulf, he plans on going fishing Saturday. It has been such horrible ugly overcast weather all week here. We couldn’t see far at all.

We still took the drive down to the National Seashore and when about 8 miles down. It was a nice drive, even on a dreary day. Ryan did see one rig that he was looking for, but the others were just too far out in the haze. Bridger did good and only asked to get out a couple of times. He was confused why we were on the beach but not getting out and playing. On the way back ,we had to roll his window down like Daddy had so he could see out too! It was cute. He talked the entire way! He is never quiet! It is so funny!

We enjoyed our little family drive, even on hazy overcast days.

Katelynn's Senior Pictures - Part 1

I started taking Katelynn's senior pictures for her this past weekend. She asked me a long time ago and I didn't mind one bit. I am no professional by any means, and I see so much I can improve on, but I like trying to get the best shot, and trying over and over hundreds of times till I at least get 1 great shot!

She had a few ideas of where she wanted to go. We hit those spots up and took some. We still have 2 other spots we need to go take them, but doing them while the sun is going down doesn't leave a lot of time to run around town. Here is the progress we have gotten so far. These are only the ones that I have edited! I took over 60 pictures that day. Finding time to edit them all is hard. It is very time consuming. Even looking now, there are some I would like to change a little. She says she loves them, so I guess this is a good start to them. Once the wind slows a little or we get a "good day" we will rush back out to hit up the other 2 spots she has in mind. She is so beautiful and so easy to photograph! Its been fun!

Sundays and Boats.......

Sunday we got up around 830 and got ready to head out in the boat. We were going down to the cabin so that Ryan could start some of the updates that really need to be completed sooner rather then later. The wind was already blowing as we got a late start and missed that slick calm ride down. Bridger always does amazing in the boat and we don't really have issues with him. He was a little squirmy, but he stayed up so late both Friday and Saturday night, I'm sure that had something to do with it. Plus the cabin is about and hour and 15 min boat ride!

We got to the cabin and Bridger immediately wanted to play "on the beach" I laid out next to him while he played and Ryan started working. We cooked on the pit and just hung out. We spent all afternoon there but had to head back so I could start taking Katelynn's senior pics. Bridger slept the entire way home. It was a bit choppy from the wind, but he didn't mind one bit. He took a nice nap on my lap.

I love our time together out in the boat and playing in the sun and water. Both my boys love it and are naturals. Its perfect time together. I'm excited for this summer and our every weekend in the boat. I'm already pretty dark and I really need to start using sunscreen.

Perfect weekend with my little family.

Safety first! SUNSCREEN!!

Love those lips!
